Listening List    The following tracks are considered by the author of this page to be helpful to the student who wishes to fully understand the Pink Floyd sound, and the course of development taken by the band.  The songs may be significant in terms of the band's history, interesting for their construction, or simply intriguing due to one particular aspect.  It is hoped that the selections will give the student a fair representation of the scope of work done by the band, and an understanding of the characteristics by which we may recognize the sound that is uniquely Pink Floyd.  The worksheet provides questions for thought while listening to the various selections.  It may also explain why I included certain songs and not others.  (Do not e-mail me to complain that your favorite piece isn't included.)
    Each of the following songs is on CDs that you can listen to by either ordering your own copies (say, from Amazon.com or somewhere), or (if you are a student at PCHS) asking Mr. Woody about their location.  Students may not copy the CDs, nor may they be taken from the school, but you will have a variety of listening options.
    The title of the CD refers to the period in the band's history when the song was created.  The "Ages of Floyd" are described on the main page.  For a review of the individual song, click on its title.  If you wish to see its lyrics, click on the word "lyrics" to the right of the song title.  Because of the few Pink Floyd tracks to ever appear on the the British or American charts, any indication of a song's place on the charts will be listed on the page where the album from which it came is reviewed.
